Everest Base Camp Trek from Tibet is built mainly around Tibet. The trek starts from Lhasa and ends in Kathmandu. However, the trekkers don’t get to walk on Nepal’s Everest region. Their travel in Nepal is only limited to drive on the road. The journey is quite strenuous in comparison to other Everest Base Camp Trek, firstly because the trekkers need to walk for a longer duration, and secondly, because the trekkers need to go as high as 6340 m. This tour is definitely not meant for everyone.

What makes the trek tough, also makes it quite exciting. It’s quite an accomplishment to finish the trek. It features one of the best settlements in Tibet, and the trekkers get to know about the people and the culture, which is quite unique.

Details Of Everest Base Camp Trek from Tibet

The tour starts from Lhasa, where tourists take multiple days sightseeing and acclimatizing. Then, they take a drive to Langkor Monastery. It is only from this place that the official trek starts.

The trekkers walk for around 10 days till they reach the Advanced Base Camp Everest, which is at an altitude of 6340 m. There is another base camp, known simply as Everest Base Camp, which is at an altitude of 5250 m. The trek ends at Lotingri, from where they drive all the way up to Kathmandu.

So, if we were to compare Everest Base Camp Tibet vs Nepal trek, it’s quite clear that the Tibet’s version of the tour is quite strenuous. Everest Base Camp Trek from Tibet is meant only for the advanced level trekkers, as it takes you through extreme terrain and really high altitude.

In the context of attractions, there is really no comparison as both Tibet and Nepal feature amazing settlement areas for the tourists to explore. They have their own unique qualities, so declaring that one’s better than the other wouldn’t be fair.

The trekkers who aren’t quite comfortable going on such high altitude, and walking up to the advanced base camp, have the option of trekking only up to Everest Base Camp (5250 m) and follow the same path back to Tibet. Of course, the tour wouldn’t be as much fun as it would have been if the entire route was covered. But still, the tourists would be able to experience the goodness of Tibet, and even for moments, they would get to have the feeling of standing in such close proximity to Mt. Everest.

It goes without saying that this trek is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s an advanced level trek, and definitely not meant for the first-timers. So, only the individuals who’ve had prior experience walking in high altitude places, and extreme terrain, should go for this trek.
